Business for a
Living Wage
Since June 24, 2004 all businesses in Santa Fe over 25 employees are required by the Living Wage
Ordinance to pay $8.50 per hour or more. However, we urge you to support
businesses which have been voluntarily paying a living wage before the Living
Wage Ordinance came into effect or who have less than 25 employees and have
agreed to pay a Living Wage because it is the right thing to do. But, don’t
forget that unionized workplaces, like Albertson’s and Smith’s, pay substantially more than the living wage and
have benefits. Every
day, more and more businesses are doing the right thing for Santa Fe. We have so far identified over 235 businesses which
have been paying a minimum of $8.50 an hour before June 24th or are
paying it even if they are not required to do so. Those businesses which have
agreed to publicizing that they had been paying a living wage are listed below
by category.
In addition, we are also listing self-employed business owners who
support a living wage but do not have employees (SEBOs). They are marked by an
asterisk (*).
